On hearing speech-in-noise again. This patient tells his story.
One of the great breakthroughs in today’s hearing technology is the ability to hear speech more clearly in noisy environments - often a true turning point for those who are new to hearing devices.
Our patient Andrew Hayward recently shared his experience after being fitted with the latest hearing technology and receiving personalised care from Adam Shulberg.
“You’ve changed my life,” he told us. Words we find deeply moving, as professionals.
With advanced speech-in-noise capabilities, carefully personalised to his needs, Andrew has found a new ease in conversation - at home, socially, and in his professional life as a publisher and author.
If you are wondering whether newer hearing technology could make daily listening easier, or if you are simply ready to explore your options, Adam would be delighted to meet you.
Meet Adam Shulberg
FSHAA FRSMSenior Audiologist & Founder, The Well Being BY CUBEX
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, Adam has spent over four decades in audiology, advancing a more human, personalised standard of hearing healthcare.
He qualified in 1980 at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital as one of the UK’s youngest audiologists, and has since led clinics across the UK and Europe. He now leads The Well Being By Cubex in Marylebone, evolving his father’s early audiological work to shape a distinctly more modern, patient-centred practice.
His work is grounded in a clear philosophy: hearing is not just about the ear, but the whole person. This has guided his focus on the cognitive, emotional and relational impact of hearing loss, including his long-held collaboration with the IDA Institute.
Adam also established a sustainable audiology programme in Western Nepal, training local healthcare workers and volunteers. This programme has endured and continues to have lasting impact on impoverished communities there today.
